In addition
to focussing on the separation task, the main emphasis of various Wolftechnik
research and development projects was to improve the retention rates of the
cyclones. At the same time, it was intended to increase the throughput
capacity. The classical approach is to set up several hydro-cyclones
in-parallel Infeeding is by means of a central main pipe. Each of the
hydro-cyclones is controlled at the same pressure and speed; this is necessary
to force the same separation rate.
However, several
hydro-cyclones can be accommodated in one container. This is referred to as a
multi-cyclone. Comparing the cyclone
variants in a test system for throughput capacity to differential pressure
yielded interesting results.
